Guide to Telegram Privacy

Telegram is a lot like Whatsapp: it requires your phone number to use it. If you are unsure about the security of it, here’s a little guide to help you set it up and protect your privacy while using the app.

First, Telegram requires you to setup your account using their phone app so the initial setup has to be done on your phone using your phone number. Once you set it up and login on your phone, you will be able to download the desktop app and use that going forward.

Second, you will want to set up some privacy settings. Within the privacy and security settings on the desktop app you have the option to hide any details you want. The picture blow will show you what the essential settings are but you can customize it however you want to. Just make sure your phone number is set to “Nobody”.
